2009 Seahawks Elite

  • Tom Poti - Head Coach

    Coach Poti played varsity high school hockey at the age of 13 at Saint Peter Marion for 3 years before being recruited by Cushing Academy, a private Prep School. During his 3 year tenure with Cushing, the team tallied 112 wins, 8 losses, and 5 ties. During his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years he was chosen for hockey night in Boston. Perhaps his biggest High School Hockey accomplishment came his senior year when he was chosen to represent Team USA at the World Junior Championships in Boston.

    During Poti's Junior year he was also recruited by numerous Division I schools and drafted by the OHL (Ontario Hockey League). Tom chose to commit to BU (Boston University) and legendary coach, Jack Parker. 

    Prior to his freshman year at BU, Poti was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1996 NHL entry draft, 59th overall. He went on to play for BU for the following two years in which they won 2 Beanpots, 2 Hockey East regular-season championships, and 1 playoff championship. Poti was also the first defenseman in 19 years to win the MVP of the Beanpot Tournament. 

    Tom was selected, again, to represent Team USA for the World Junior Championship in Switzerland his freshman year where they would take Silver. 

    Throughout his College career,  Poti would receive many awards including being named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team and the NCAA All-Tournament team his freshman year.  In his Sophomore year, he would be named first-team All American and voted the best defenseman in Hockey East.

    Following his Sophomore year with BU, Poti decided to pursue his NHL career with the Edmonton Oilers. Poti went on to play 14 more seasons in the NHL with teams such as the Rangers, Islanders, and the Washington Capitals. He was selected to play in the NHL All-Star game in 2002 and played for Team USA in the 2002 Olympic games, where they would take silver under Coach Herb Brooks.

    Aside from Tom's 14 Year NHL Career, he also boasts an impressive resume in coaching youth hockey players. From the Seahawks Youth Hockey Club, The Boston Bandits, to his very own TP3 Hockey program. 


2011 Seahawks Elite

  • Bill Zaniboni - Head Coach

    Coach Zaniboni, a Plymouth, MA native, brings a depth of junior hockey understanding and coaching to the Seahawks, with over 18 years of coaching and 5 seasons of professional hockey experience.

    He spent his high school hockey years at Catholic Memorial in West Roxbury, MA. As goaltender for the three-time state championship team, he was voted team MVP both his junior and senior year.

    Zaniboni entered juniors playing for both Tri-City and Sioux Falls in the United States Hockey League (USHL). He ended his career with the Soo Indians in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) after accepting a scholarship to play Division I hockey with Northern Michigan University. Here he earned the Peranni Cup for receiving the most game stars as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business.

    Following college, Zaniboni went on to fulfill his dream of playing professional hockey in the East Coast (ECHL), Central (CHL), International (IHL), and Southern Professional (SPHL) Hockey Leagues. Prior to his retirement, he was awarded the team MVP and Goalie of the Year while winning his first professional championship with the Mississippi Surge.

    As a head coach of successful junior hockey teams since 2011, Zaniboni has gained a reputation for developing players for their next level of competition. He has been awarded coach of the year in 2014 (MNJHL) 2015 (USPHL -Midwest), 2016 (USPHL-Midwest), 2018 (EHL) seasons, as well as leading his former Jr team to two consecutive league titles, two national tournaments, and one national championship.

    This will be Coach Zaniboni's 8th season with the Seahawks Youth in some sort of Coaching capacity as well as Head Coach of the Jr Seahawks EHL Program. As a youth hockey coach he aims to develop kids in both a fun and competitive environment.

  • Jason Wood - Assistant Coach 

    Coach Jason grew up playing hockey in Barnstable, including 4 years at Cape Cod Tech. He has been coaching hockey in the Barnstable area for the past 7 years and runs on and off ice player development programs during the summer.

    Coach Wood's energy for hockey is unmatched. He brings an enthusiasm to help grow the game on Cape Cod in a fun, energetic, and competitive environment that aligns well with the Seahawks mission and goals.

  • Luke Colburn  - Assistant Coach

    Luke grew up on Cape Cod and was involved in ice hockey from an early age.

    He played for Provincetown High School varsity starting in 7th grade and served as captain beginning in his freshman year. He was also an All-Star each of those years. 

    After graduating from high school, he played a season for the Boston Junior Bulldogs, after which he was recruited by Fitchburg State. He played four years at FSC and was named captain in his senior year.

    After graduation from FSC, Luke was an assistant coach for the Harwich/Provincetown high school hockey team.  He was the head coach for the mite team at Lower Cape Hockey in 2018 and he assisted the YD mites in 2019.

    Coach Colburn will be entering his 5th Season as a Coach with the Seahawks. 



2012 Seahawks Elite

  • Cory Ellerton - Head Coach

    Coach Ellerton, hails from Montreal, Canada. He played hockey growing up in Canada, but by High School , he chose to attend Bridgeton Academy and finish his schooling while playing hockey.

    Following High School, Cory played in the NAHL, NOJHL and eventually was a member of the first ever Seahawks EHL program.  He later accepted an opportunity to play at Castleton State University NCAA DIII. 

    Cory Graduated in 2022 from Castleton State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is currently an Assistant Coach with the Seahawks EHL and EHLP teams and in his 2nd Season as Head Coach of the 2012's.


2013 Seahawks Elite

  • Jeff Valdes - Head Coach

    Coach Valdes, a native of Falmouth, MA played four years for Falmouth High School where he was both a Cape and Islands All-Star and a Boston Herald All-Scholastic Athlete. After FHS he attended the North Field Mount Hermon school for a Post Graduate year.

    Valdes played 4 years of collegiate hockey at American International College (NCAA DI) where he served as team Captain his senior year. Following graduation, he attended training camp in the AHL with the Hartford Wolfpack before competing in multiple professional seasons for both North American and European Teams.

    Following his hockey career, Jeff worked with Athletic Performance Training as their head-on-ice skills instructor while also coaching the Cape Cod Lightning U14, U16, and U18 teams.

    This will be Coach Valdes 3rd Season coaching with the Seahawks. 
     
  • Will Martin- Assistant Coach

    Coach Martin, a native of Western Mass, played youth hockey throughout Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut where he developed his passion and love for the game. Being from a small town with no high school hockey team he chose to attend prep school at Wilbraham and Monson Academy where he played varsity for four years while being named captain in his senior year.

    After prep school, Coach Martin attended Western New England College where he played four years at the Division III NCAA level while being named co-captain in his senior year.

    Coach Martin later made his move to Cape Cod, with his wife Lisa, to start his career and family while settling in the Harwich area. He has been coaching youth hockey with his sons William and Colin on Cape Cod for the last five years.

    We are excited to have his contagious passion for hockey and love of player development. Coach Martin aligns well with the desire to grow and keep talent on Cape Cod and we look forward to seeing him behind the bench again this season.



2014 Seahawks Elite

  • Matt Pollara - Head Coach

    Prior to joining the Seahawks, Matt was a lead instructor/coach for the Bay State Breakers Mite Development Program and a skills instructor with E11even Skills for the last 3 years while also serving as the Head Coach for the Breakers 2014 Mite Minor Team leading them to a 29-4-5 record.

    Matt grew up playing hockey on the South Shore of Massachusetts with the 85’ Sharks Metro Team and was named the captain of the EMJHL Bridgewater Bandits in 2001.  He then went on to play his high school hockey at Archbishop Williams High School where he was named captain and a Catholic Central League All-Star his senior year.

    After high school Matt rounded out his hockey playing career at Stonehill College where he was named the Stonehill College Hockey Rookie of the Year Award recipient of the 2003-2004 season and finished his college career averaging just under a point per game.

    Matt has been a great motivator throughout his playing and coaching career and has a passion for sharing his love and knowledge of the game with kids including his 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter. Matt believes that a good coach will not only help kids improve their skills on the ice but will also help them learn valuable lessons that will help set them up for success in life, and is looking forward to bringing his passion and knowledge for the game to the 2014 Team as well as the Seahawks Organization.

  • Brett Calhoun - Head Coach

    Coach Calhoun hails from Tulsa, OK. As a player he tallied just as many PIMs as he did Points making him a force to be reckon with. After lacing up as the team Captain for the Bismark Bobcats in the NAHL, Calhoun committed to UMASS Boston in the ECAC-E where he would also be named team Captain during his 4 year tenure.

    His playing career would later bring him to Cape Cod with the now defunct Cape Cod Bluefins in the FHL.

    Brett has been behind the bench for multiple local programs since 2015 including, Defensive Coach for the Barnstable HS Varsity team, Coach for YD Hockey and recently, Assistant Coach with the Seahawks Development and 2013 Elite teams.

    As a coach his focus is on player development, which includes positive player mindset (on and off the ice), discipline, skills, work ethic, teamwork, and positional play. He believes that youth players should have a positive atmosphere to learn and develop their game, through hard work and a team first environment, while still having fun.

    His outlook and ability to build relationships with the kids is evident both on and off the ice making him an invaluable part of our staff.

EHL Jr Seahawks

    Coach Zaniboni grew up in Plymouth, MA, playing his high school hockey for Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury. In high school, Zaniboni won three State Championships and was voted MVP in both his Junior and Senior years. Furthermore, Zaniboni was awarded the ESPN Male Athlete of the Year in 2000. The stellar netminder then set off to play junior hockey in both the USHL and the NAHL before accepting a scholarship to Division I school,  Northern Michigan University (CCHA).

    At Northern Michigan University, Zaniboni was awarded the Peranni Cup his Senior year for most game stars, and he also took home the community service award in both his Junior and Senior seasons. Zaniboni graduated with a B.S in Business Marketing before continuing a professional hockey career in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), Central Hockey League (CHL), International Hockey League (IHL), and Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Prior to retiring and becoming a coach he was awarded the team MVP and Goalie of the Year while winning his first professional championship with the Mississippi Surge (SPHL). Check out Zaniboni's stats throughout his hockey career.

    Aside from a successful playing career, Zaniboni has also proven to be a successful junior hockey coach by receiving the Coach of the Year award for three consecutive seasons. During that time, Zaniboni also lead his team to two consecutive league titles, as well as two national tournaments. The record speaks for itself at 210-56-8 with the Bozeman Icedogs and Dells Ducks. However, just like most coaches across the junior hockey landscape, Zaniboni is most proud of his NCAA Commitments. Zaniboni averages over 16 players per season advancing to a higher level of play (NCAA, ACHA, Tier I/Tier II, and Pro Hockey), as well as having former players on the NHL Central Scouting list.

    Since becoming head coach of the Seahawks Jr Hockey Team in 2017, Zaniboni has been awarded the 2018-2019 Coach of the Year, helped many players move on to College playing careers, and helped coach for the USA Hockey National Camps for the over 3 years.  
     
  • Cory Ellerton - Assistant Coach

EHLP Jr Seahawks

    Coach Richard, a native from Montreal Canada, was drafted by the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) draft which resulted in a 4-year career in the current CCHL (Central Canada Hockey League). 

    During his junior career, Mike tallied over a point a game on average. Highlighting his Junior career was his participation in the Royal Bank Cup and the Fred Page Cup Eastern Canadian Championship. 

    Following Juniors, Coach Richard became a 4 year stand-out at Elmira College while playing Division III hockey, where he graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing.  As a college athlete, Mike amassed an average of 1.14 points per game and won two conference championships while being named Rookie Athlete of the Year and a Division III All American. 

    Mike also participated in two final four tournaments, was runner up for Division III player of the Year, and was named Elmira Athlete of the Year during his 4-year tenure. 

    Coach Richard would continue his hockey career following college with a 5-year career in the minors. Averaging 1.45 points per game, Mike, would be named to the 2009 SPHL All-rookie team and Rookie of the year. In 2010, he would be named to the SPHL Second All-Star Team and follow up with an SPHL Championship, Playoff MVP, and Second Team All-Star with the Mississippi Surge before retiring in 2011. 

    This is Coach Richard's first season as Head Coach in the EHLP, however, he is in his 5th year as a Coach/Assistant Coach and scout with the Seahawks Organization.
